Job Title                   : Nursing Services Manager

Reports to              : Hospital Manager

JOB SUMMARY

To plan, organise and ensure the execution of nursing activities at the Hospital Facility according to regulations, safety and health standards. The incumbent manages a team of Nursing Specialists to ensure the delivery of quality patient care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree or Equivalent qualifications
  • A NQF level certification
  • Registration with SANC

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in similar role
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience
  • Business related degree will be advantageous
  • Nursing and patient care
  • Delegation and monitoring of progress skill
  • Knowledge in healthcare related quality management and improvement
  • Legislation, policies, procedures and standards relevant to nursing

DELIVERABLES

  • Ensure that all patient care duties are performed according to professional, ethical and legal standards
  • Develop and implement a Nursing tactical strategy and objectives that are aligned to the Hospital’s operational objectives
  • Drive the implementation of integrated Nursing governance, compliance, integrity and ethics frameworks throughout the division and hold Nursing professionals accountable for providing care according to these frameworks
  • Drive optimal functioning of Nursing operations within the hospital by establishing clinical care risks with Unit Managers and developing and implementing Nursing care objectives to mitigate risks and conducting regular progress reviews
  • Promote and foster a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, and the coordination of care among disciplines.
  • Leverage technology to automate and integrate Nursing processes
  • Analyse data, and interpret the trends to inform sound decision-making and ensure contingency plans are in place
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and quality of service delivery to ensure successful overall business results
  • Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of company values, operating model and strategy
  • Participate in committee meetings and forums
  • Comply with cost controls in order to achieve section budget
  • Ensure good governance including the effective use of management systems to monitor compliance to business direction and policies
  • Ensure complete, timeous, and accurate reporting with appropriate levels of escalation to enable effective decision making
  • Drive adherence to statutory standards, policies, and procedures within the business unit to ensure compliance at all times and take remedial action where necessary
