Job Description

Location: Clinix Naledi Nkanyezi Private Hospital (Sebokeng).

Reports to: Nursing Services Manager.

 

Job Summary:
To plan, monitor, coordinate and oversee the Unit’s operations and processes to ensure quality patient care and the overall running of the unit including but not limited to managing the ward clerks, RN, EN and ENA’s roles and responsibilities. Take responsibility for the mentoring, coaching, training and development of nursing staff and managing the Unit budget and ensuring cost saving and stakeholder engagement.   


Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  •  B.Cur in General Nursing
  • Nursing Administration
  • BLS
  • Experience in Medical  & Surgical ward is critical 
  • Business Management qualification advantageous.
  • Updated ACLS/PALS/ATLS advantageous.
  • 3+ years’ experience at a managerial/supervisory levels
  • Experienced in Medical & Surgival ward nursing care
  • Experience within a private hospital environment advantageous.
  • Current registration as Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Plan and organise multiple work outputs by assigning tasks and priorities and continuously reviewing objectives and goals in line with the Unit standards.
  • Plan, organise, supervise and assess quality nursing standards and ensure efficient and effective execution of the required tasks.
  • Accumulate information to report on work progress and use for decision making purposes and the identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Manage and oversee infection control initiatives.
  • Oversee the sterilisation of surgical equipment and ensure correct disposal of surgical waste.
  • Translate and drive adherence to the relevant regulatory principles and standards across the unit as set out by the SANC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Act as the liaison between nurses and other departments, whilst engaging with relevant stakeholders to ensure operational efficiencies are coordinated to improve overall effectiveness of unit activities in line with hospital requirements.
  • Plan, develop and implement needs-based programmes to promote health and wellbeing within the medical ward
  • Plan for staff availability in medical ward and address customer complaints, conduct quality care rounds and clinical practice audits to monitor care levels and report accordingly.
  • Manage admissions and pre-authorisation processes and oversee patient financial Case Management
  • Organise and monitor stock levels to maximize efficiency, ensuring an effective stock management system is implemented in Units.
  • Ensure that clinical equipment is managed appropriately by staff and that care is taken in terms of prevention of damage to equipment.
  • Manage ward clerks, RNs, RNAs as well as ENAs within area of accountability and drive service optimisation.
  • Conduct environmental and patient safety checks within the ward taking prompt action when required, to meet set clinical quality standards per agreed policies and procedures.
